World renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine will be giving a concert of music by black composers of the 18th and 19th centuries as part of the Arts-in-the-Heart concert series sponsored by the Javacya Arts Conservatory and St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral. Mrs. Pine debuted with the Chicago symphony at age, and she continues to perform with the world's leading orchestras, including the Chicago and Vienna Symphonies, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, and Camerata Salzburg. She has recorded 39 acclaimed albums including: Mozart: Complete Violin Concerto, Sinfonia Concertante with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Sir Neville Marriner conducting; Bel Canto Paganini, and Elgar & Bruch Violin Concertos with the BBC Symphony, Andrew Litton conducting. She is founder and president of the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation, and one of its current projects is Music by Black Composers - a project that aims to inspire black students to begin and continue instrumental training, to make the music of black composers available to everyone, and to help change the face of classical music through greater diversity.
As part of the concert, Mrs. Pine will be accompanied by the Javacya Elite Chamber Orchestra, the premier ensemble of the Javacya Conservatory, a close partner of St. Peter's.
There will be a gala dinner to welcome Mrs. Pine, held at the University Center Club at FSU on February 19. Click the link below to purchase tickets for the concert and for the dinner.
